ABOUT MARTIN
I began my career as a union construction laborer, electrical apprentice and journey-level electrician before studying law at UC Davis. After graduating, I clerked for a federal judge, then worked for a law firm representing unions and employees.

At the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, I practiced labor law and specialized in negotiations and arbitrations. This led to a position as the City’s Employee Relations Director, where I headed a team of labor specialists and oversaw four rounds of Citywide bargaining with the City’s 30+ unions. During those years, I acted as lead negotiator with the City’s biggest union, as well as its public safety unions.

My strengths include strong listening, analytical and problem-solving skills. I respect and understand the perspective of workers, union representatives and officers, as well as agency managers, supervisors and policy-makers.

I look forward to working with you and your labor colleagues.
